After five weeks of back-to-back catwalk shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, the international collections have finally come to an end
United Kingdom (PRunderground) March 25, 2009 –After five weeks of back-to-back catwalk shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, the international collections have finally come to an end. And while fashion editors are busy discussing the looks for Winter, here at Koh Samui, we have another mission: what are our favourite looks for the upcoming Summer?
The mission grows even bigger when we realize how much there is to choose from! First, there are the whimsical florals. Spotted everywhere from Dries van Noten to 3.1 Phillip Lim, the catwalks were awash with petals and leaves, and we’re not talking bold, but delicate, prairie-reminiscent flowers… To get your own fix, look to See by Chloe, where multicoloured daisies have taken over our favourite bustier dress, or to 3.1 Phillip Lim for printed shifts and blouses.
Travels to the Far East have been on many globe-trotters minds for a while. Perhaps a sign of that inspiration, ethnic embroidery has made a comeback to S/S 09 catwalks. The result? An array of eclectic embellishments that will work just as well in the City as on the beach in Goa. Our favourite ethno-inspired pieces come from Antik Batik, and include an embroidered cotton dress and sequin-embellished blouse…
Finally, no outfit is complete without accessories, and this Summer is a call for a statement heel. Replacing “it” bags from the past few seasons, the new shoes come in all sorts of rainbow-reminiscent colours. If you want to make a style statement, look to our new favourite label Willelund, where Mexican pom poms decorate the classic sandal.
And if searching for that special necklace (oversized pendants were spotted at Dries van Noten, Issa and Phillip Lim), turn to Uccelli for jewellery made of pearls and giant perspex keys! With such necklace, prints and pom pom-adorned sandals, there is definitely no question of you getting lost in the crowd.
